ADAA Summer Board Meeting Report

JULY 10-13, 2008

San Antonio, Texas

After President Bland opened the meeting and roll call was taken, it was announced that SGM Orona has a new assignment and will not be the Federal Trustee. SGM Exerline Drum is the new Federal District Trustee. She has been at previous Annual Conferences. She has also led the Army Basic Training sessions.

The February 2008 Board of Trustee Meeting Minutes were corrected and approved.

The Officers and Trustees offered addenda to their reports.

The Staff reports were reviewed.

Doug and Barb McDonough have retired. Barb has fully retired. Doug has stayed on, working a couple of days a week helping with the transition.

As of July, over 450 members have joined or rejoined by way of the MGI marketing firm hired by ADAA. In September they will continue their efforts, as a new contract has been established.

All state and locals should have filed the on-line e-postcard with the IRS assuring them, the Government, the states have not made $25,000 or more by now.

Michi Trotta is the new editor of the Journal. Hopefully, she will be present at the Annual Conference.

ADAA members will have a new benefit, an identity theft service. It will be announced in the Sept/Oct Journal. Please encourage your members to take advantage of this new service.

As of June 16, 2008, the ADAA membership is 14,154.

The Rebate schedule is: October—1/15/08November—2/18/08

December—4/2/08January—4/15/08February—6/13/08.

Social Security numbers will no longer be used in the ADAA database. This change has been made for safety reasons.

Membership cards and certificates with the new ADAA logo will be mailed.

ADAA is offering an “E-Newsletter”; publication will begin in the fall of 2008.

Within the next few months, the majority of the ADAA courses will be available online.

CE sales continue to be profitable. Each year the sales have surpassed the budget.

Seven new courses were introduced this year.

Ideas for new topics are always appreciated: contact Jen Blake, Dir. Of Education. Check out the Free CE courses in the Journal. They are in the Mar/Apr, July/Aug, Nov/Dec issues.

The current nominations submitted are:

Angela Swatts—President Elect

Natalie Kaweckyj—Vice President

Claudia Pohl—Secretary

Susan Camizzi—2nd District Trustee

Cathleen Butler—6th District Trustee

Ronda Lane—9th District Trustee

The financial status of the association is finally comfortable. I will be sending the latest report separately. If you have questions, please contact me and I will get answers for you.

The Auditor still suggests a nominal dues increase. This idea be discussed at the Annual Conference.

An official Rebate Policy was established at this meeting. You should receive notification of it soon, if you have not done so already.

Manual of Procedures Bylaws and Resolutions will be presented and discussed at the Annual Conference. Look for them in the next Journal.

Many have heard and read about the “Vision of the ADAA”. President Bland has included it in her President’s Page in the Journal’s last several issues. The Vision committee presented an overwhelming number of suggestions in its report at this board meeting. Because the number was so great, the BOT felt a gradual introduction of the ideas was best. Many will be presented at Annual Conference in the Membership Forum on Friday, Oct 17. Implementation will also need to be slow. I encourage all members to read their Journal for the Vision information.

State and Local Compliance is still stressed. Thankfully, 4th District has only a couple of locals not currently in compliance. It was recommended that the Trustee consult with the State President in order to change this situation.

As you can see this was a very busy and intense board meeting. If you have questions on anything in this report please contact me and I will do my best to clarify.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Trustee. I want to keep you informed of the activities of the ADAA.

Nanette R. Hill, CDA

4th District Trustee
